PROCESS:

The Other Side VR was crafted after exploring several ways in which the woodcut prints could be brought to life in an immersive environment. Virtual Reality being in such a nascent stage of its evolution, did not have much of a readymade formula for reimagining something as analog as traditional printmaking. I created several artworks for each scene and character, along with swatches of marks which were then used by Ninaad to painstakingly texture and animate a 3D-modelled version of the woodcut world.

The Other Side VR premiered at Left to Devices, curated by Lotte Marie Allen & Tiger Mackie at The School of Visual Arts Flatiron gallery in 2018.
